A Bountiful Harvest

MissionWorks Fresh Food Initiative 
 

MissionWorks has developed a food coop which is providing a steady supply of wonderful produce to residents.  Our partner in this venture is Russo’s, a wonderful business in Watertown that is both a retail and wholesale supplier of high quality, well-priced produce.  If you have not been to Russo’s, it is definitely worth a trip: http://www.russos.com.  During the height of the local growing season, most of the produce they carry is grown by Massachusetts farmers, much of it from small, family farms that the Russo family has done business with for more than 60 years. 
 

Last summer residents also benefitted from vegetable gardens that were planted, weeded and harvested in both communities. We want to thank The Food Project, which came to our rescue at Orchard where ground contamination is an issue, by building two raised beds for us.
